Our Classes
Learners are grouped according to their learning needs with an age variance of +/- 2 years. Classes have between 8-10 learners depending on their support needs. Each class has a qualified teacher and a teaching assistant.
We run two parallel curriculums for our learners
DCAPS (Differentiated CAPS CURRICULUM)
Learners take 6 subjects
- Maths
- English (Home language)
- Life Orientation
- Computer Literacy
- Physical Education
- Natural Science
The level at which a learner takes these subjects is dependent upon their skills, therefore no grading system can be accurately used due to splinter skills in some cases.
Functional Academics
Learner take 6 subjects with goals derived from their Individualized Education Plan. This curriculum is meant to equip learners with academic skills at a functional level.

Vocational Curriculum
A vocational curriculum is offered to children from ages 16 and upwards, on a rotational basis. Each term learners will be introduced to and taught different trades (vocations), such as:
- Hairdressing
- Carpentry
- Baking and Patisserie
- Fashion and Designing
- Food and Nutrition

At Lead Future, we understand that communication is a fundamental part of learning and a skill that needs to be mastered and used by every learner.
We promote the use of AAC devices and methods in the classroom and around the school.

We use the TEACCH approach to deliver lessons to our children. This is a research based approach which focuses on safe and efficient scuffling of skills by creating a predictable environment with a clear start and end.
It makes use of visual stimulation to reduce anxiety and encourages independent thinking and completion of tasks. It can be tailored for different skills’ levels.

Life Skills Programme
We offer a comprehensive life skill’s programme that occurs in the natural environment with the aim of transferring taught skills around everyday living.
This programme is meant to enhance the learner’s function, social skills, practical and independent living.
It entails taking our learners to a supermarket, restaurants, etc.
